About the role
Our client is a Barcelona-based technology company that builds digital products for large international corporations. Its agile, multidisciplinary teams own the full lifecycle of each product and work as strategic partners to the businesses they serve.
About the role
We are looking for a Squad Technical Lead (STL) to lead the engineering side of the AI Platform squad, ensure technical excellence and drive the development of AI solutions aligned with business goals.
The squad brings AI into the company: the AI platform and the AI-powered tools that colleagues use every day. Here the platform is the product, and the customers are internal colleagues.
The Product Owner leads the squad and owns what is built and why. You will lead the engineers and own how it is built, how well, and how safely it reaches users. This is a hands-on role: you will keep building alongside the team.
Your first 6 months
By the end of your first six months you will have defined a documented architecture and technical direction shaped with the engineers, made the path from merge to production clear and shorter, personally shipped something meaningful to production, set up regular 1:1s and growth plans for each engineer, made security part of how work is defined and reviewed, and become the squad's technical voice with other squads.
Responsibilities
- Own the technical direction and architecture of the squad's products, built with the engineers and documented as decisions.
- Build the squad's delivery mechanism: pipelines, environments and quality gates, with full continuous delivery as the goal.
- Choose the right approach for each problem: AI where AI is the right answer, something simpler where it is not.
- Make joint decisions with the Product Owner: bring feasibility, cost and sequencing, challenge scope openly and commit once priorities are set.
- Line-manage the squad's engineers and QA through 1:1s, feedback and growth, guiding the team's move into AI Engineer roles.
- Lead a self-managing team: shape the work, remove blockers and offer guidance rather than assigning tasks.
- Own engineering quality standards, incident response and security for the squad's products.
- Represent the squad in cross-squad technical forums, carrying its needs out and company standards back in.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Tech Lead or similar leadership role, including line management of engineers.
- Strong hands-on engineering background and the will to keep building as a lead.
- Experience building and running LLM-based products in production (RAG, agents, tool calling, evaluation).
- Sound engineering judgement: knowing when AI is the right tool and when a simpler solution is better.
- Solid understanding of software architecture, cloud computing and microservices.
- Experience setting up CI/CD pipelines and delivery processes.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with a passion for coaching engineers and growing self-managing teams.
- Effective communication skills.
Nice to have
- Proficiency in .NET and/or Python.
- Experience operating Azure, including Azure AI Foundry or Azure OpenAI.
- Experience using AI coding assistants and agentic workflows in day-to-day engineering.
- Experience building AI agents and skills, MCP servers and LLM gateways.
- Experience with native mobile applications (iOS and Android).
- Knowledge of containers and Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of AI security and compliance (EU AI Act, data handling).

- Hybrid working and flexible hours
- 24 days of holiday per year
- Summer intensive schedule
